Our Legacy is Now

Throughout the summer we are talking about our Family Legacy, the lasting impact that we have in our community. One of the temptations is to thing that legacy is something only for the future and something that only the older members of our community contribute to the ‘next’ generation. The story of David and Goliath, however, subverts that idea. David was, as Saul described, “just a boy,” and yet without him the nation of Israel would have little to no lasting impact in the world. Our youth and our children have significant gifts here and now, they are part of our family legacy, they are essential to impacting the community. They are not only the future, but they are our present.
