Looking for a King

The story of Israel is one of a people continually trying to control their own destiny. In Samuel, Israel asks Samuel for a king, even though God has made God’s guidance on the matter clear. They, however, thought it was more important to have the same sort of protection, security and power as the other nations around them. The people of Israel refused to seek God’s guidance and, instead, followed their own understanding of what was best.  When we look to establish a lasting impact, to leave a legacy, do we seek God’s guidance? Do we pray and try to follow God’s lead, or do we do what we think is best? Impacting our community begins with prayer, it begins by seeking God’s guidance and continues to follow God each step of the journey.
