Jesus is clear, the Kingdom of God is not for the rich, the well-to-do or the accomplished, His Kingdom is for the weak, the vulnerable and the poor in spirit. When we think about the lasting impact of our ‘ohana, our family, it has to be directed towards those who will inherit the Kingdom of God. As easy as it is to fall into the temptation to think that this means the Kingdom of God is for some people and not others, the Kingdom of God is for all people, because all people are in need of God. To impact our community we ought to see ourselves in the list of those Jesus calls blessed in the beatitudes, we ought to see ourselves as poor in spirit. When we see ourselves as recipients of God’s grace, we can then invite others to experience our loving and hospitable God who welcomes all around the Table of Christ.
